A New Witch

A Novel by Doug McIntire

About the Author

Doug McIntire

My name is Doug McIntire, a central Texas author now making my home near Austin. I'm 45 years old and married to a wonderful woman, Maria. We have two children, Xavier and Sarah. Xavier is 21 years old and in college. Sarah is 14 years old and in eighth grade.

A New Witch is the fourth novel I've completed but it's the first novel I've edited (although that may be a never ending project). Now that I have a little bit of a break, one of the first things I want to do is sit down and read it myself.

Many of the ideas for this book came from my own life, and that of my daughter. I grew up in the country of Iowa and we lived across the road from a cemetery. Edie's experience in the Introduction of the book, when she jumps down into an open grave, happened to me when I was about the same age as Edie. I still remember it vividly and can even point out exactly where the grave is (in real life, the owner of the grave is also named Emma).

Of course, Sarah, my daughter, is actually the main character in the book. She has contributed no end of inspiration and encouragement to my writing it. She was also the first person to read it, doing so before it was even finished, and often pushing me to write faster because she'd caught up to me.

I'm currently working to find an agent and would like to publish this novel. I hope that you'll have a chance to pick it up in your favorite book store and read it. I also hope that you'll enjoy reading it as much as I've enjoyed writing it!

I have a sequel planned as well, a second novel about Edie called, Once a Witch, Always a Witch.

In addition to writing, I also like to ride my motorcycle. I have a 2002 Harley-Davidson Heritage Softail. You can see a picture of it on my personal website, www.DougMcIntire.com. You can read more about me and my other novels and writing projects there. You can also contact me at Doug@DougMcIntire.com if you would like to send me an email about my website or my book.
