Edie has always wanted to be a witch and is elated by the prospect of becoming one, but soon realizes that it's more work than she thought it would be. Not only does she have to acquire the proper tools to perform even a simple circle of protection, she also has to go through a dedication ritual before she can even read the spells in the book.
She performs the ritual and soon discovers that a coven of evil witches wants the book for their own power and will stop at nothing to get it. Although Zola the Great, the leader of the coven, has vowed to get the book, it is protected by magic and his coven is unable to locate it or the new witch.
Until Edie makes a simple mistake in her spell crafting one day and sends a clear beacon to the coven, announcing not only her location, but the location of the spell book. Now she has to figure out how to keep the book away from the evil coven, without getting herself or her family killed in the process.
A New Witch is a fun, coming of age novel written for teens.
